What is affiliate marketing?

Affiliate marketing is an online advertising channel in which online advertisers sell products or services and pay publishers (independent parties that promote the products or services of an advertiser on their website) only for results, such as a visitor making a purchase or filling out a form (rather than paying simply to reach a particular audience). This pay-for-performance model is in essence the modern version of the "finders’ fee" model, where individuals who introduce new clients to a business are compensated. The difference in the case of affiliate marketing is that advertisers pay their publishers only when the new client introduction results in a sale or a lead, making it a low-risk, high-reward environment for both parties.

What is an affiliate program?

An affiliate program allows you to generate advertising revenue by leading your website/channel visitors to an online advertiser’s ecommerce sites. By placing your unique tracking link to TireBuyer.com on your website, your visitors have the opportunity to buy our products. If a TireBuyer.com product is purchased through the link on your website, we pay you a commission.

Does it cost anything to become an affiliate?

No. It's absolutely free to join our affiliate program. There is no charge to apply and there is no minimum sales requirement.

How do I sign up?

You can sign up for the TireBuyer.com affiliate program via our partnerships with Rakuten Affiliate Network or AvantLink. Please choose only one – duplicate applications will be rejected.

After you submit your application, we will review the content of your website. We will contact you by email to let you know your application status. If your application is approved, we’ll send you our partner onboarding series with information on how to get started and keep going. If your application is denied, you have the ability to reapply to the program after 14 days, should you have made any updates to the site that was originally declined.

Is my website eligible to become an affiliate?

Most sites will qualify to participate in our affiliate program. Anyone may submit an application, but we do reserve the right to reject an application:

  • if we are unable to access your website
  • if your website is not yet live
  • if your traffic levels/page views are too low
  • if there is inappropriate material on your site

I don’t have a website. Can I still apply?

Please contact us directly, so we can discuss how best to partner with you.

What if I operate more than one website?

Great! Both of our networks are able to support tracking for multiple domains. You can create links specifically for each site and generate separate reports for each domain. You will receive one commission check for all sites.

What is the policy for search publishers?

Brand and trademark bidding in any form is not allowed in the TireBuyer.com affiliate program. We require that publishers make the TireBuyer.com brand (as well as any misspellings) a negative match in search campaigns. When you accept the program terms via the Rakuten Affiliate Network/ AvantLink, you are also agreeing to our Search Policy. Please review the program terms carefully prior to accepting, to ensure that you will abide by them. Failure to comply with our trademark policy will result in a prompt removal from our affiliate program.


How do I create links?

Log into your affiliate account and follow the instructions:

  • Get links via Rakuten Affiliate Network here.
  • Get links via AvantLink here.

Where should I place the affiliate links on my site?

Place affiliate links where your visitors will easily find them. High-traffic areas will attract the most buyers, which in turn results in a higher chance of converting traffic, and therefore your ability to earn more commission.

How often should I update my links?

You can update your affiliate links as frequently as you like. We recommend updating them with every sales event or rebate promotion we run, so that your content is always fresh and up-to-date for your visitors. Visit the creative library within your network of record to get neweste deals, and make sure you’re subscribed to our newsletters to get deal alerts right in your inbox.

What tools will TireBuyer.com provide me with to promote products (e.g. product catalog, banners, text links, widgets, API)?

We are dedicated to making the TireBuyer.com affiliate program a world-class program in both networks. We have a wide variety of promotional banners and text links, a specific redirect link (so that you can link to individual products), a robust product catalog, and open APIs.

For your first 30 days in the affiliate program, you’ll have access to an exclusive offer that will help you get order active in no time. You’ll also have the opportunity to experience TireBuyer.com as a consumer, via a campaign tailored to help you understand what sets us apart from the competition.

The TireBuyer.com APIs give you access to full product information, including pricing, availability, specifications, descriptions, and images for all of our products (tires, wheels, and accessories). By releasing our data via these APIs, we are offering you the ability to create and innovate in new and exciting ways.

Will I earn commissions on qualifying orders placed through mobile phones and tablet devices?

Yes, TireBuyer.com pays commissions on qualifying orders placed through a mobile phone or tablet device, as long as a customer went through an approved Rakuten Affiliate Network/ AvantLink tracking link.


What is TireBuyer.com’s commission rate?

You will earn 6% of all sales completed within 90 days of initial click-through from a valid affiliate link on your website. TireBuyer.com reserves the right to alter commission rates at their discretion. Affiliates will be notified of commission changes via their network of record’s messaging tool.

How do I know how much I've earned?

You can access reports that provide information on impressions, clicks, orders, sales, and commissions (dollars earned). You have access to near-real-time reporting via both networks. Please note that monthly payments may vary from publisher reporting due to cancellations, returns, and removal of fraudulent orders.

How long do I get credit for my referrals once someone has clicked through from my site (action referral period)?

The action referral period is 90 days.

How often do I get paid?

You will receive a commission check from your network of record at the end of each month, provided your monthly account balance has exceeded $25. Different payout methods are available (check, ACH, PayPal etc.). For more info, please check your network of record’s policy:

Do I earn commission on my own purchases?

Yes. Purchases made by affiliates are eligible for commission, as long as the sale originates through the affiliate link on your website.

What about returns?

If a customer returns a product for a refund, or if credit card charges are reversed due to a dispute or credit card fraud, your account will be debited for any commission earned on that transaction. This return will be visible in the reports provided by the network. The return window is 90 days for any purchases made. The return/cancellation rate is quite low, but they do happen from time to time. Please note that monthly payments may vary from publisher reporting due to returns, cancellations, and removal of fraudulent orders.

How can I monitor my sales?

Reporting is available 24/7. You can access performance reports as often as you like within your network of record. Both networks offer near-real-time reporting.

How will you know that an order came from my website?

Affiliate links generated within either network’s interface contain a tracking code. That tracking code is passed to us during the order process, and tells us which affiliate to credit when the purchase is complete via the affiliate’s network of record.

How does TireBuyer.com handle missing order requests?

Missing orders are reviewed twice a month. TireBuyer.com reviews missing orders that are entered into the Rakuten Affiliate Network / AvantLink Transaction Inquiry Manager. Per the TireBuyer.com affiliate terms and conditions, TireBuyer.com only reviews missing orders that are 90 days old or less.


How will TireBuyer.com communicate with me?

Affiliate links generated within either network’s interface contain a tracking code. That tracking code is passed to us during the order process, and tells us which affiliate to credit when the purchase is complete via the affiliate’s network of record.

  • Your first communication will arrive from the TireBuyer.com affiliate team, welcoming you to our program when your application is accepted.
  • Once you join the program, you will receive our:
    • Welcome email series: These newsletters are intended to help you understand TireBuyer.com as a brand and what sets us apart from the competition, as well as what our limitations are. The Welcome Email Series spans several months. We’ll provide tips, great promotions, and specific products that TireBuyer.com wants you to help promote.
    • Promotional newsletters: These include our top offers, new promotions, and new rebate offers.
    • From time to time, you may receive an email from a member of our network team.
    • You may occasionally hear directly from one of our team members at TireBuyer.com. In an effort to ensure that the program grows and our publishers are successful, we may contact you to build the relationship, optimize our placements, or participate in a survey or sales contest. We value our publishers and want this to be a successful partnership.

How will I find out about sales and weekly offers?

Your best bet is our promotional newsletter. This newsletter comes out the day the deal hits the site, and our publishers count on it as the primary source of offers and deals they should promote.
