Sidewall designs

It takes a keen eye to distinguish the Open Country R/T from more extreme mud-terrain options. With an aggressive tread pattern that extends onto the sidewall, stone and mud ejectors, and open, scalloped shoulder blocks that evacuate mud and snow, the Open Country R/T certainly looks the part. L-shaped, interlocking blocks in the heart of its tread help to create tread block rigidity and reduce irregular wear. This helps to assure consistent performance throughout the life of the tire (as the tread wears) as well.

But just beneath the aggressive characteristics is an optimized tread pattern that specifically reduces on-road noise, and slightly lesser tread depths than are found on extreme mud-terrain variants. These characteristics allow the Open Country R/T to achieve its unique on-/off-road performance duality and be a more livable tire day-to-day than mud-terrain alternatives.

Optimize the side profile look of your ride with a choice of two sidewall designs. The Open Country R/T is a non-directional tire, so either sidewall could be mounted outwards.

Toyo Tires’ performance ratings tell the story. The Open Country R/T is just edged out in the most extreme terrain by the Open Country M/T (mud-terrain) but runs a clean sweep in just about every other performance category.

Serious towing and hauling capabilities

Best in class load range is a Toyo Tires’ staple, and the Open Country R/T is no exception. Top of the food chain “E” and even “F” ply ratings are available. If you’re unable to tow or haul what you’d like with the Open Country R/T, a semi-trailer truck might just be in your future.

Warranty

The Open Country R/T comes with a 45,000-mile treadwear warranty.

Incorporates a multi-ply, polyester construction

The Open Country R/T’s multi-ply, polyester construction makes it an extremely durable tire, with strong impact and puncture resistance with 3-ply construction on LT-Metric and Floatation sizes, and 2-ply construction on P-/Euro-Metric sizes. It’s not a full-fledged mud-terrain, but challenging off-road terrain is certainly not contraindicated. It’s durable enough for just about anything you want to throw at it.
