It’s been a hot debate amongst tire nerds for years. We investigated and have the answer (sort of).Check it out
Dick Cepek Tire was founded in 1963 by off-road enthusiast Dick Cepek. Cepek loved exploring the California desert in his Land Rover, but he quickly realized the tires available at the time simply weren’t suitable for this kind of rugged driving. He discovered a farming equipment tire that suited his needs, and convinced the manufacturer, Armstrong Rubber, to have it certified for use on trucks, SUVs, and 4x4s by the Department of Transportation. Then Cepek started selling the tires (and matching wheels) to his family, friends, and others who loved off-roading as much as he did. In the beginning, he operated out of his garage in South Gate, California, later opening his own retail stores and designing his own branded line of tires and wheels.
Today’s Dick Cepek tires keep that original, adventurous spirit alive, while incorporating today’s advanced tire technology to make sure off-roaders can do what they love: Get out there and explore, get dirty, get muddy, get wet -- without ever worrying about getting stuck.
