Rated 4 out of 5 by Best tire at any price! Overall, for this kind of money, no other tire out there can touch these...and many that are way more expensive can't either!Great dry and wet handling, very quiet..handles corners well, even if you are a "spirited" driver...I can't speak for their longevity, as I haven't worn a set out yet...but I do about 25k/yr and rotate every 10k and they wear well and evenly.I'm thinking of stocking up on these in case they ever stop making them. i will be buying another set for the aftermarket rims i have for summer. This will be the 4th set of these tires on my 4th differant vehicle...I loved them on my Corolla and when that finally died, I sold them to a friend who is still running them. I bought a 04 Civic that came with new Coopers...the first time i drove it in the rain, i nearly died...the Coopers just flat out had no wet grip. Replaced them soon after with these HP's...problem solved. I now have them on my 05 Civic (again replacing Coopers) and I can't wait to be safe again. My son also ran HPs on his RSX and loved them.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! January 6, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by A smooth ride with a good handdling in rain & snow The Altimax-HP tires are a definite improvement compared to the Dunlop Signatures that I exchanged them for. Although we are near the end of the snowy season, I was torn with getting snow tires, tired and embarrassed of getting stuck in my driveway. It hasn't been a problem since I changed the tires. So far driven in about a foot of snow and no slipping & sliding like I did with the Dunlop tires. I have a tendency to take corners faster than I should and almost got into a couple of accidents with the Dunlop tires. I'm also very satisfied with the noise reduction compared to the Dunlops, which is a big issue for me. They are noisier on concrete (as another review stated) but smooth & quiet on blacktop. I've had the tires for a month now and so far, so good with meeting my expectations. My only concern is that the side wall is a bit soft and hoping it's not going to be an issue. The Altimax-HP tires makes my car feel like it's a new ride...with the combination of getting it clean and shinny lol... excellent all weather tires! March 22, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great winter tires! We live in a small rural community with few places to choose from when shopping for tires, and when we went looking for new tires for our 2002 Chevy Cavalier, we had trouble finding any that were affordable. We didn't want to put expensive tires on a car with 160K miles on it. We finally decided to try buying tires online. TireBuyer.com had an amazing selection and excellent prices, not to mention we got free shipping to our home. The tires arrived in 4 days and as soon as I put them on the car we were impressed with the performance on our winter roads. The tires grip well in the snow, making it easy to go through drifts (even hard ones made by the snow plows) and the traction assist hardly comes on anymore! We were a little worried about the handling of our sport suspension when we went with a touring tire instead of performance tires, but so far no problems. We haven't driven in the rain yet, but have had some days where the snow is melting and the roads are wet and the traction is excellent. Overall I would definitely buy these tires again, and recommend TireBuyer.com to anyone. January 7, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good tire, but...... This is my first set of General tires and I have several issues with the Altimax HP. The tires need 2 to 3 miles to completely smooth-out as they are just ever-so-slightly bumpy when you first start out. The other issues are my fault for buying 55,000 mile tires. Under hard braking the ABS brakes go nuts because the tires are no match for the brakes. Under moderate acceleration the tires will chirp when the automatic shifts into 2nd gear and when you switch to sport mode it seriously barks the tires shifting into 2nd and 3rd gear. I've never encountered this situation before with my previous tires and I've learned my lesson. I've been running a 30,000 mile tire with-out any of the above mention problems and will go back to a softer tire. I do believe the Altimax Hp is a good tire and a safe tire, but it's just not for me. I've put 10,000 miles on these tires so far and will get back with TireBuyer for my next set. September 18, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great milage and wear I have 64,000 miles on these tires and they have been great. I am buying another set today. I have a TDI and have run the tires at 44psi for the entire time. I will get them up to close to 70,000 before winter comes. They are great in the winter, and handling is excellent. At 44psi the ride is alittle harsh but that is to be expected, but has not affected wire at all. The OEM Michelem's only got about 45,000 miles under same conditions. These tires handle better and much better wear at the high pressure. The OEM Mich were the low energy, suppose to save fuel, but I do just a good with the General. Around town 42-43 mpg, and on highway, is drive at 65 48mpg. TDI,s are great vehicles the engines will go 300,000 easy if you take car of it and use the proper own. Can not wait to I put my new set of Altimax HP's on August 12, 2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by Kia Forte Koup SX I put the rear tires on at 42,160 miles, had Good Year Eagle GT's on the front with tread left so didnt put the front ones on at that point. A bit of advice, having Z rated tires mixed with H rated tires dont handle well at all, LOL. Going around turns my traction control was going off like crazy, after about a month, I put the front Generals on, the car at that point had 43,895 miles. What a difference, no more problems with the traction control!! The car has 45,407 miles on it now, and the tires handle pretty good. There good in Dry and Wet driving, and have drove in some snow already and there not bad. Unless you have snow tires, all season tires are ok in the snow. Road noise is quiet as of having app. 3,000 miles on the tires, and they seem to have a comfortable ride for being a 215/45R17 tire. As of right now I'm happy with the tire, my gas mileage is still good, I will see after more mileage is on the tire if my feelings are the same. If your looking for a performance tire, this tire is not for you. There is a pretty good difference between this H rated tire compared to a Z rated tire that I had on the car prior. I was looking for a cheap nice tire and so far I like this tire. The car originally came with a H rated tire and I believe this one is better then the factory installed one. Hope this helped anyone looking at this tire. January 5, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very good tires, smart buy.. I did a lot of research before buying it, but the reviews from here and the comparisons with Hydroedge and TripleTreads from tirerack headed me to this tire. It is a very good tire, I drove it for almost 3 weeks in the March/April Toronto weather (sleet, a little bit of snow squalls, rain and cold temperatures) and this tire performs well. I do drive a stick and I drive relatively hard and the tires seem to respond very well (the walls seem a little bit skinny, but that is expected from this tire). And, what I like also, they are very quiet (I replaced my old TripleTreads with them and those used to get me nuts with the noise). Anyways, I don't know how long will last or how will perform during the summer months, but I hope better and better as they get broken in. April 6, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great tire I used to be bounced around the road a lot and the steering felt loose. After installing these tires it straightened everything out. It's no longer a chore to drive. July 30, 2014

So far so good....

I ordered these tires online from TireBuyer.com and they were delivered overnight. Great customer service. As far as the tires go, I have had them installed for about 3 weeks now and so far so good.
