Kumho tire was established as Samyang Tire in South Korea in 1960. In the early days, the company was very dependent on manual labor and only produced about 20 tires a day! But by the end of the 1960s, Kumho was ready to enter the world marketplace with a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. Today, Kumho Tire operates seven manufacturing plants in three different countries, producing more than 66 million tires per year.
Kumho USA is based in Rancho Cucamonga, California, with distribution centers in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Atlanta. Notable tire technologies include Escot technology, which maximizes performance, safety, and comfort through optimized braking and improved steering. Kumho is also a leader in creating eco-conscious tires, using materials and manufacturing techniques that lessen environmental impact.
